Take a trip south Gudbrandsdalen to Sjoa up beautiful Heidal to farm visits to old and preserved farms Northern Ekre Farm and Kruke Farm. Take a trip up Heidal into Sjodalen to Gjende Lake. This is not just the starting point to climb the famous Besseggen, but also to take a wonderful boat ride over Gjende Lake. Gjende lake is perhaps the biggest høgfjellsvatnet in Norway that are not regulated or subject to human encroachment of importance, and by many considered the most beautiful lake in Norway. It stretches for about 20 kilometers long into the Jotunheimen from the top of Sjoa Valley. The average width of approx. 1 km, mountain walls rise up at the most nearly 1300 meters up from the water. Peer Gynt Setervei offers the most goodies you can find in mountainous Norway. The highest point is located at Sparling, 1109 m above sea level, overlooking both the Rondane and Jotunheimen.
