Family run

Currently the third generations of Hovengen’s run Øigardseter and from the very beginning, family Hovengen has been welcoming guests here to Øigardseter.

Øigardseter was the summer mountain pastures belonging to the beautiful farm called Øygarden with several heritage listed buildings situated further down in the valley in the village of Sel. In the early 1900's, it was Asmund and Ragnhild Hovengen, who at that time ran the farm, began to take tourists here, but it was not until 1930 that tourism became the focus at Øigardseter.

Their son, Hans and his wife Aase, took over in 1951. They built steadily through the 50s and 60s to more orr less like the lodge is today.

Their son, Arne and his wife, Kari, took over operations at the beginning of the 80’s and still host Øigardseter.
